Miramar Al Nayyar encapsulates the raw essence of desert formations, channeling both natural world phenomena and human bodily movements onto canvas. Al Nayyar draws influence from the natural rock formations she encounters in Jordan’s desert landscapes. For her, this terrain symbolises a harmonious balance dictated by an inherent natural code that governs all aspects of existence, including humanity itself. She investigates the relationship between movement and this cosmic order, recognising how the fluidity of motion shapes the myriad forms observed in nature. Al Nayyar’s self-developed technique amalgamates an array of approaches to painting, ranging from oil glazing to the thin layering of wet-on-wet paint and airbrushing. Through her process, she aims to encapsulate and share transformative experiences, leading observers to a destination that exists beyond the confines of conventional reality—a space of emptiness that is concurrently abundant with possibility.
