Frieze Abu Dhabi reveals 84 galleries for inaugural art fair

David Tusing, The National, 27 August 2026

Published as Frieze confirmed who will show at its first Abu Dhabi edition, The National's report runs through an exhibitor list of 84 galleries drawn from 63 cities across 36 countries, gathering at Manarat Al Saadiyat from 19 to 22 November 2026 in place of Abu Dhabi Art, which ran for seventeen years. Tabari Artspace is one of five UAE galleries in the main section, listed with Carbon 12, Lawrie Shabibi, The Third Line and Iris Projects.

The piece breaks the fair into four parts: a main section of more than sixty galleries covering work from the mid-twentieth century onwards; Focus, for younger galleries mounting solo and two-person presentations with Frieze bursaries; Global Futures, curated by Tarini Malik around solo projects tied to the UAE and the wider region; and Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi, curated by Marika Sardar on an Indian Ocean theme. Regional exhibitors named include Athr and Hafez Gallery from Saudi Arabia, Saleh Barakat Gallery, Mark Hachem and Galerie Tanit from Lebanon, Gypsum and ArtTalks | Kanafani Gallery from Cairo, and four Tunisian galleries. Gagosian, Pace, Perrotin, Victoria Miro, Thaddaeus Ropac and Waddington Custot appear among the international names, with artists including Etel Adnan, Shaikha Al Mazrou, Hamra Abbas and Dala Nasser flagged across the sections.

Tabari's place on that list puts the Dubai gallery into the opening edition of a fair newly carrying Frieze's name in the region, where it shows under the title Be The Stone.
