Tagreed Darghouth's No Winners takes the wrestling ring as its central structure, a site through which broader cultural and historical tensions are rehearsed. As the artist has stated, "Chaos in the ring does not represent conflict as an isolated event; it's an ongoing condition." The figures grapple, lunge and brace across grounds of pink, blue, charcoal and ochre. There is no narrative resolution, no decisive blow. The series is a way of thinking about what we ask violence to perform on our behalf, the ritualised confrontation that is broadcast, replayed and rationalised. The shift to charcoal and pastel marks a departure from Darghouth's painted practice, the immediacy of the dry medium registering each gesture without revision.Tagreed Darghouth's No Winners takes the wrestling ring as its central structure, a site through which broader cultural and historical tensions are rehearsed.
