Miramar Al Nayyar, Hashel Al Lamki, Lulwah Al Homoud | At The Edge : Art Week Riyadh 2025

6 - 13 April 2025

Centered around the theme At The Edge, the inaugural Art Week Riyadh will explore thresholds, transitions, and liminal spaces—concepts that mirror Riyadh’s evolving role as a global hub for cultural dialogue and artistic exchange.

On view will be Hashel Al Lamki’s video performance, Desert Hay (2016-23). In this performance, Hashel engages in a series of repetitive actions performed while traversing the desert landscape which served as a therapeutic ritual for him. These rhythmic movements, synchronised with the shifting sands of the desert, provided solace and facilitated deep contemplation. Through Al Lamki’s performance, viewers are invited to reflect on the ephemeral yet interconnected nature of existence.

Miramar Al Nayyar will exhibit a new body of works on canvas, The Language of Movement and the Movement of Language, 2025. Emerging from the artist’s dreams and subconscious encounters with ancient petroglyphs and Arabic script, her works on canvas explore the space where language dissolves into sensation.

Lulwah Al Homoud’s contribution reimagines language as a universal visual system, transcending conventional meaning to create a new form of communication. Drawing from Ibn Muqlah’s Proportional Cursive Script and the mathematical principles of the Vedic Square, she assigns numerical values to letters, transforming them into geometric patterns.

Art Week Riyadh will run from 6 - 13 April 2025.
