"During a road trip in Ankara, Rashed went to the Nallihan bird sanctuary, an artificial wetland ecosystem located in the Davutoğlan village within the Nallıhan district of Ankara province, Turkey. This painting marks the water lillies that were floating in the lake of the bird sanctuary. Hundreds of birds migrate there each year and gifts them a union. Rashed wanted to paint herself and an imagined lover floating among the water lilies in eternity. This painting is a moment held in time protecting Rashed’s notion of love and divinity. Each Lilly is a promise to protect her ideas of what love could be and how it lives in all that we see; from a petal to a heartbeat."
