Chafa Ghaddar works across multiple media, casting a contemporary gaze on the historic fresco mural painting technique. Central to her practice is the exploration of new potentials in materiality and process, making palpable the tension between durability and impermanence. Her non-linear journey departs from fresco painting’s classical associations and arrives in the present.
The Wildfire series continues Ghaddar’s exploration inspired by her time at the Alfred Basbous Foundation in Rachana, Lebanon. The series draws on themes of land and bodyscape, portraying the transformation of green landscapes into burning land through fire hues. This work reflects both the broader context of conflict over land and personal changes in the artist's life.
