In this series of 38 spring drawings, Alymamah Rashed documents blooms, mountain tops, forests, and natural creatures from her trips across Turkey and ending in the Netherlands.
Rashed's approach to this watercolour series was completely dictated by chance and what she would witness during her hikes in Turkey and her daily walks in the Netherlands. An image of the flower, tree, or spider would be captured and Rashed would insert her own body into the captured moment. Each flower opens up into itself to birth a new being of existence. Inserting her own body into the natural environment births and preserves the spirit of spring. Each drawing operates on a different tempo of being and vibrates the essence of a blooming spring based on the fleeting moment captured. They serve as a meditative practice for Rashed since she starts her day with them and ends the day with another. This series is an ode to Rashed’s love and time spent with her in Turkey and the Netherlands with her family.
