Torso reads much like an X-ray, the interior of the human form rendered visible against a saturated orange ground. The painting evokes the body at the moment where flesh meets diagnosis, where the lived self meets the body as it is read by external instruments. The chromatic intensity refuses the clinical neutrality of medical imaging, charging the diagnostic gaze with the temperature of the living thing inside the image.1of 22Exhibitions-
