Berlin Diary

Published by Van Spijk Art Books, Venlo, to accompany Berlin Diary / Berlijns dagboek at Stedelijk Museum Vianen, 4 November 2023 – 18 February 2024.

The book gathers the charcoal drawings Samah Shihadi made during her 2023 Livingstone Project residency in Berlin, a body of work in which the close, patient surfaces of her earlier still lifes turn towards the city she was living in and the distance from home that made it legible. More than forty colour plates are set against texts by Werner van den Belt and Laura Cherrie Beaney.
