Layered Dialogues: Proximities

The second volume in the two-part 'Layered Dialogues' series published by Skira with the Seoul Museum of Art and the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation. It accompanies 'Proximities: Contemporary Art from the United Arab Emirates', held at the Seoul Museum of Art from 16 December 2025 to 29 March 2026 and co-curated by Maya El Khalil and Eunju Kim as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival Abroad Programme. The exhibition brought together more than 110 works by 47 UAE-based artists across three generations, arranged in three sections developed with artist-curators. The book documents that presentation and sets it alongside newly commissioned writing, with Korean writers responding to work made in the United Arab Emirates. It is issued in English, Arabic and Korean. The companion first volume, 'Layered Dialogues: We Are in Open Circuits', covers the reciprocal exhibition of Korean media-based practices shown in Abu Dhabi in 2025. Artists in the exhibition include Hazem Harb, Maitha Abdalla and Almaha Jaralla.
