JDEED's survey of the inaugural Art Basel Qatar named nine booths worth seeking out at the fair's debut edition, staged at the M7 centre in Doha under artistic director Wael Shawky and drawing more than eighty participating galleries, over half of them from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Among the nine presentations singled out was Tabari's booth for Hazem Harb, placed alongside stands from Nature Morte, The Third Line, Galerie Krinzinger and Acquavella Galleries.
The piece described Harb's multidisciplinary practice as one that returns repeatedly to memory, history and visual symbolism, building layered narratives from archival and photographic source material.
