Deep blues and teals cascade down the large canvas in long curtains of paint, green palm trees rising through a dark, jungle-like nocturne. An interior seems present and dissolving at once, diamond-floor fragments surfacing among the drips. El-Kadhi Brown (b. 1996, London) paints in oil, and the vertical runs of colour give the surface a streaming, liquid motion true to the title. The British-Iraqi painter, RCA-trained, builds dense dreamscapes where domestic and natural elements collapse into one another. Here a room and a forest occupy the same wet, blue dark, neither settling into solid form — a picture of constant change, exactly as named.
